HERE’S WHY I AM GOING THROUGH A MASSIVE TURQUOISE CRUSH.

Those of you who know me well, know that while I am a colourist, my penchant has always swerved toward the wamer side of the palette, with red usually predominating in my interiors, and also a liking of fluros.

Anyway, after visiting the Topkapi palace, in Istanbul back in 09, I went through a shift, and I just cannot get enough turquoise, or cerelean blue. And I am actually  finding myself wearing turquoise, green, and purple..I am just hungry for it, and there are odd pieces of turquoise making their way into my home.

One such example is this great turquoise 100% merino pure wool blanket which I bought second hand from Savers, washed, then, after ripping off the tacky and faded satin binding, which was threadbare, I rebanded it with this black striped cotton band. (actually, I have to give credit to my clever friend Anne for this B & W stripe idea, as i was going to go for a solid block of purple).  It was pretty easy to do, and looks sensational. The blanket is really warm and snuggly, and is part of my move away from doonas back to woollen blankets. I love the feel of wool, and I love the look of it. And the cost? $20. Imagine what a really good quality woollen blanket like this would cost brand new. I know it will probably outlast me. Yeah!!
