As I mentioned the other day, I just started teaching a class at PSU this term in the Graphic Design program. The first day went really well and it seems like it inspired at least a few students. 
With this being my first time teaching solo, I’ve taught classes prior as a team, I felt it was really important that I challenge myself to come up with my own syllabus and curriculum that align with my teaching philosophy and also my own personal work.
The two main things I wanted to focus on with the projects with the students were that they would be personally relevant to their lives and that they could also serve a function outside of the class room. It is yet to be seen if this strategy resonates with the students as much as I hope it will. I’ll report back as the quarter progresses.
